The world’s largest omelet was made in Portugal! It’s EGG-straordinarily true!

On 11 August 2012, the city of Ferreira do Zêzere wanted to do something special for a holiday they call “Immigrants Day.” So they decided to make something BIG.

First, they got 145,000 eggs, 880 pounds of oil and 220 pounds of butter.

Next, they found 55 chefs to cook the big omelet, and they found a giant pan that weighed 4,290 kilograms and was 10.3 meters all around.

It took the chefs six hours to cook the entire omelet.

When it was done, everyone at the festival received a plate full of the fried egg dish. DE-licious!
