Monte Selvagem (Wild Mountain) is outside of Lisbon on the way to Évora in the Alentejo region. It is an animal reserve caring for and protecting many types of species, while also proving an entertaining and educational experience for children and families.

About 300 animals of 70 different species call Monte Selvagem home. Many live freely among the Alentejo cork trees and Holm oaks of the countryside. Visitors can observe the animals in their natural surroundings by walking on trails or taking a half-hour tractor train. It’s a thrill to see zebras, monkeys, llamas, meerkats and more.

Monte Selvagem has many attractions to keep kids amused. They bounce freely on a giant trampoline. They slide and swing in a play equipment. And, there’s a petting zoo, to get up close, feed and make friends with small animals.
